Hello everyone, sorry it's been ages. I've not been well but I'm doing okay and there's no way I'm going anywhere yet! I'm not allowed to use the hospital wifi and it's been a bit boring so mum went out today and bought me a sim for my iPad and so yippee, I'm online.
It's a bit ago now but I had a night at Livingston Lodge safari park which was amazing - I left from hospital and came straight back here but it was really cool, we got to feed the giraffe really close up. Miranda and everyone at the Thistle made me feel very special too.
I was really cross on Monday when mum and me watched Granada news and they said that I had been admitted to hospital in a really sort of glum voice and made it sound really serious. Mum got loads of texts and emails from friends who thought that I was about to drop dead. We can't stand negative people. Mum said that they must have been short on news, but if they wanted to do something about me, they should have picked up on my Emma Bridegwater story which was nice and positive. Liberty of London are now selling my mug and so are Murrays in Barrow (mum says thank you Helen), and you can still get it online at Emma Bridgewater.
I have just seen a lovely message from Priya but I really can't travel anywhere which is sad but just life, but thank you anyway. I would have loved that. And I do remember you, the nice security man from when I met Take That. There's been so many nice people, I wish I could remember all the names.
And I'm sorry I can't post photos, we are still trying to do it securely. It's sad that a few feel that they have the right to pinch photos and then pretend to be me, but that's what happened on Facebook at the beginning and because of them we have to be careful.
Okay, I'm going but I will be back. Tomorrow is Milly's birthday so we're having a party lunch on the ward :)
It's so nice to hear from you again Alice, I've been wondering what you've been up too. Sorry to hear you're back in Hospital, but good on mum for getting you back on line. Take care, Pam
ReplyDeleteHappy to see your back and doing ok, Alice! I missed your blog. Oh, and wish Milly a very Happy Birthday. I saw her the card she designed I'm going to have to get a bunch to send out!
ReplyDeletei hope you have fun at the party! birthdays are the best :)
ReplyDeleteHi Alice, I was looking for news from you every day :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get better realy soon.
My mom is in Harpender for a few days and bought me your mug (she will be back to Brazil in 2 weeks).
So, in a few more days I'll send you a picture of me, my dogs and your mug in Brazil :)

Regina
So very Happy to see your back and doing ok, Alice! I missed your blogging. Tell Milly "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" for me and I saw the card she designed, I will have to get a few sets to pass out for Christmas over here in the U.S. Take care.
ReplyDeleteAlice

I'm glad ot hear from you...been wondering. Glad your mom is taking good care of you and things....keep up your good spirits...it inspires all of us.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear your having fun and staying positive, sounds like you had fun away for the night... keep smiling xxx
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Alice. We're sending tons of love and prayers your way. You continue to be an inspiration to us all!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Milly! Alice, I hope that you are out of the hospital soon. I am glad that you are once again on-line. I am sure that it makes things a little less boring. Take care!
ReplyDeleteI've been missing your posts. Glad your mom got the SIMS card. Keep up your positive attitude!!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that you've had such a great time at the safari park. My God, giraffes are huge from a distance so I guess they must be even bigger up close. This is my first comment here but I would just like you to know that I'm truly touched by your courage. I have someone really close to me that has just ended his first chemo treatment and finding your inspiring story really meant a great deal to me. I hope that you get the chance to do everything on your bucket list and lots more as well. Take real good care!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear from you again. I know it must really be boring when you can't get online. I spent a significant time in Hospital on a couple of occasions an it can be hard to be cheerful about it all the time but so happy to hear you're thing only positive thoughts.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless You..
Clearly you are a beautiful young girl...We don't need pictures to know that! You are my inspiration! xxoo, Kathy from California....
ReplyDeleteHello Alice,
ReplyDeleteI was just going through the "blogger archives" at all the different blogs, and came across yours! I have read a few of your entries, and you seem like a really really brave and positive girl! I'm sorry to hear about your cancer... That must be really hard, but you do seem to be coping with it in a healthy way. My daughter is 3 years old, and I don't know what I'd do if I found out she had cancer, just the thought of it makes my heart ache. I truly hope the best for you, and I hope you enjoy the bit of time you do have left. I love your idea of the "bucket list", I have never really done that and followed through with it. Very interesting list you have! :) Sending positive vibes your way... Keep writing, you're a beautiful writer! I'm going to put your link in my blog! Thank you for sharing... :)
Alice you are truly inspiring. I think of you often. I looked at your mug at Emma Bridgewater. It is wonderful. I will be ordering one soon for a Christmas present. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.
ReplyDeleteHi Alice, Thanks for the update !! Happy Birthday to Milly !! Have a great time at the party and hopefully we'll get to see the pictures soon !! Best Wishes,John S. :)
ReplyDeleteAlice! *_*
ReplyDeletei think you're wonderful and it really made my day to see that you posted today. Keep on smiling and know that there is someone in Toronto, Canada thinking happy thoughts for you.
ReplyDeletetake care,
Keltie
I've been looking for a post from you for quite some time now. I should introduce myself after a comment like that... Hi I'm Tina. I'm a (kinda) new mommy and I stay at home to look after my little 1 year old, Summer. Part of our daily routine is to look for a new post from you to see what you're up to. I like to tell her if you're having a surprise day, a bad day, a fun day, a tired day, a frustrating day or whatever day you're having. I know she can't REALLY understand what I'm telling her about you because she is only 1, but I love your attitude! Even if you're telling off some jerk who writes bad things, you still end up with a good attitude and I want my little girl to have the same. SO, from all the way across the sea, Summer and I say "Hello" from Florida, USA and "thank you for being you".
ReplyDeleteAlice~ I'm so happy to see you posting and always with your upbeat Alice voice. So first off let's talk about the fact your mugs are being sold at Liberty's. I am so impressed. Really. After all Shopaholic! I love Liberty's WOW! You should be so pleased. I am pretty darn happy I bought two mugs right away so I have mine. I will take a photo soon and send to you as I know you want photos of people with your mugs.
ReplyDeleteI want you to wish your friend Milly a very Happy BIrthday from me.
It is coming to the end of summer here. Weather changing and all that stuff.
I'm hoping to get to London in October, if so if I can work it out I would love to come meet you in person.
In the meantime, take care dear one. I'm so happy to read your words. Have a lovely time at the party tomorrow and don't pay attention to negative people, they are usually just so unhappy in their own lives they like to take everyone with them.
You are a beam of sunshine.
Love,
Tracey
So glad to have an update from you. Sorry you are back in hospital and I do hope you will be able to go home again soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day tomorrow and Happy Birthday to Milly. Take care my young friend, sending big hugs, many prayers and much love from Canada, xo
News is never into the postive. That's how things go, but jus crank the music up and dance I say.
ReplyDeleteCome and visit me:
http://wheelchairphilosopher.blogspot.com/
I'm sorry you havent been feelings too well but you do sound very cheerful!:] Youre such a sweet soul and I hope all is going well else where! XOXO
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear you sounding upbeat and doing okay, kept checking the blog and was worried when there were no updates! Keep smiling chick, keep positive and stay away from the hospital food! (am a nurse and know it can be pretty dire at times!)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear you are staying positive and doing okay, was worried when there were no updates! Keep smiling, chick! Xx
ReplyDeleteI have a suggestion regarding photos... photography major so we have to deal with people claiming photos all the time. Use photoshop or any kind of editing software, even something as simple as Microsoft Paint, to type something across all of your photos like FAKE PRINT or something. Then we can still see them but anyone who DOES try to use them will be obviously labeled a fake. =]
ReplyDeleteI'll have to send you some instructions love on how to post your photos so that no one can take them!! (I did the same when my own mother would take my professional photographs and save them in her album...)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear you've been feelign in the dumps. I hope things perk up for you some and you're able to enjoy things more!
And what a horrid news station to post only the negative! You've done so much GOOD with your life recently - much much more that they should be reporting on! You don't listen to those negative creeps!!
I'm really glad you posted. I follow you on facebook too - and I was wondering if all was well... then I came here and saw your post. Please post often... I always await news.
**hugs** from Germany. I hope you are well!!
Glad to see you here again :) Take care. xx
ReplyDeletelovely to hear you are doing ok and that you are now back online!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried putting a 'watermark' across your photos? There are loads of apps that are free that you can use from our iPad, then you can put copyright of Alice ALL OVER your pics!!
If you use Google Picasa - you can put a watermark on your photos that cannot be removed.
ReplyDeleteIt's very easy to do and the program is free to download. (Doesn't work on Macs though - so I heard).
Keep fighting girly!
I can't stop admiring you. Have a nice party :)
ReplyDeleteYou're so brave sweetie! Stay strong and enjoy your party lunch today! :)
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back! Happy birthday, Milly!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you posting again, as I have been checking your site daily. Stay positive!
ReplyDeleteWell done Alice, you are so brave. Hang on in there, as the saying goes ... Have a super party - tell us all about it when you have a moment.
ReplyDeleteHi Alice hope things are not so bad for you. i have a way for you to post your photos that will make it obvious if they are stolen from here. please drop me a line at this address and ill explain how to do it.
ReplyDeleteYou're an inspiration Alice. =)

ReplyDeleteHilary
very glad to hear from you and well done for taking control of All the internet madness out there and keeping it how you want it. Sounds like how you live your life as well. Hope the hospital has nice views and am sure you are making life lively for everyone there as well Alice, so that's one positive about being in! x Thinking of you
ReplyDeleteHi Alice,
ReplyDeleteHave so missed reading your posts but completely understand. I hope you are feeling better and so glad you can now get online. Also happy to hear you were able to go to the safari park! What fun! Would love to see pictures as soon as you all can figure a way to post them safely and securely. Don't let the "gloom and doom" people get you down. Keep your chin up and stay positive!

So lovely to hear your blog Alice. Last week saw recent addition to my garden of 5 young ducks - one in particular v lovely - she's called Alice! Hope you have a great time with Milly on her bday, and that you're home with Mabel soon. xx
ReplyDeleteHi Alice! So happy to see your post. I just wanted you to know that I received my Emma Bridgewater mug and left a raving review about how much I love it on their site. I also posted it to Facebook, so I hope this helps sales a bit. Keep up those amazing spirits of yours and I'll keep you in my thoughts :)
ReplyDeleteHang in there Alice! Praying for you!!
ReplyDeleteYIPPEE, we heard from SWEET ALICE! I am so thrilled to have an update on all your happenings. It sounds like you are staying very busy and having parties too! I am sure those giraffes where magnificent to get a close up look. Wow! Today, I am taking my little guy - Ben to the mall to play neon putt putt golf. It is a blast because they use dark lights which dramatize the whites of your shoe laces. The balls show up neon green and you have to put them into a machine to make them show up neon every once in a while. We are planning a trip to Bonaire where we meeet as a family to scuba dive. Our family motto is "if you dive together, you stay together". Last year, my mom (age 73) and I were recognized as honorary ambassadors b/c we have been there 10 times. This year Ben will be recognized too! My mom and her two brother who are 80 plus still scuba dive! I will send you lots of energy and love from the sea when I see something fantastic!
ReplyDeleteKeep up your wonderful spirit - you are a blessing to us all!
Love Ruth

I don't normally post on blogs but I have to say I was so relieved to find a post this morning on this blog. I'm in Austin Texas in the US and have been following you since a friend posted your blog on their twitter feed. I have to say I was nervous when you didn't post for a while but I wanted to let you know that you have a lot of folks on this side of the pond thinking good thoughts your way all the time! I think you are so brave and I'm so impressed by your maturity and love of life.
ReplyDeleteYou are in our thoughts and prayers down south in the US!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're still here, and still fighting!
I'm sorry about the glum voice on the news. They often sound fake and melodramatic to me.
I'm also sorry that people are pretending to be you.
I know your experiences have opened you up to AWFUL behavior from other people. I hope you've encountered enough kindness to counteract all that.
I was worried about you Alice! Sorry to hear you've been in hospital, hope your not feeling too poorly:) Happy Birthday Milly!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update Alice, I love your posts, have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for mentioning me ! You dont need to thank me at all hun! I met Rihanna a few hours ago and told her about you and that you couldn't make it today and she told me to tell you that she sends you ALL her love and that she is sorry you couldnt make it!! Glad to hear you are still with us! God Bless!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear from you again. I am glad that you are able to get online again. x
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame the media are usually in the 'glass half empty' camp. We in the 'glass half full' camp have a so much positive time. Great mug and fantastic to be in Liberty's. Happy birthday to your sister Milly. :)
ReplyDeleteDear Alice,
ReplyDeleteI'm Following you for a while now. I have two daughters of my own and can't imagine how your mother handles this. I have so much respect for you and your family. Please keep updating us for a looooong time little girl. Take care...

ReplyDeletehi alice, I'm sorry that some people use good faith to do anything derogatory to the image of others, and therefore undertake things that might be good for many...

God bless you always!!
stay in peace.
Kisses from Brazil.

Glad you are feeling good! The mug is lovely! I hope Milly has a wonderful birthday. You just keep being positive, the news is always negative so pay them no attention. Love your blog! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time at the party Alice! I saw your mug online and it is beautiful....
ReplyDeleteGreat to see a new post I am a bit of an addict now :)Happy Birthday to Milly hope the ward party is great sure the staff there will make it fun hospital staff are always wickedly funny and upbeat as for the media they clearly don't have enough drama in their own lives and have to make some up lucky your family are wise to them. Have a brilliant day Alice from Rhonda in Sydney Australia
ReplyDelete2 examples of what can be done with pictures are at
ReplyDeletehttp://www.orientalloves.com/alice.html
(i am a web designer and this is what i am currently being paid to do)
it shows how to protect the images.
You open you picture in gimp(a free programme)or another image editing software. add layer add white print and bring the % down to what you are happy with.
I hope this is of use to you.
The only thing is to make sure the photo is unusable should someone try to cut out the copyright info.
paul
Hey Alice,
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear your safari went well! I saw the pic of you feeding the Giraffes, it looked brilliant!
Sadly the media/press never get it right, you just have to ignore them and let them get on with it, everyone knows to come here for the real info!!
Look's like the Liberty launch went really well, I hope they are selling just as fast there too!
I really cannot thank you enough for all you have done for THHN through your amazing mug, it is just INCREDIBLE, so a HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU!! Dudley sends load of cuddles and big licks :-D
Enjoyed reading your new post, Alice.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comment about people being negative, especially when they are in the media. This may not sell papers but the following headline would be more appealing to me...
"Today Alice smiled."
It is sad there are those out there who are in so much need of attention they feel the need to pretend to be others. Google their real names if possible and you can see they have achieved little.
On Twitter and Facebook I have friends who inspire me by their way of coping with whatever life throws at them. Their friendship has strength money can't buy.
Be well, Alice. You have made a difference in the lives of so many.

Glad to hear your ok :) Granada and any other media always focus on the negative aspects of a story and cannot see the real person behind the story which is a shame. Hope you have a nice birthday lunch with Milly tomorrow :) all the best, thinking of you xxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteYou are a star, Alice and I am with you on the negativity thing :-) no room for it! x x x
ReplyDeleteGlad you are still here !! Hope Milly had a good birthday. Bet you are delighted with the Emma Bridgewater mugs, they have been a great success. I love mine, it's on display for now, way too nice to use !!!

ReplyDeleteAlice,
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to drop in to tell you what an inspiration your blog is, both to myself and everyone across the world. You embody the meaning of living life to the fullest, and I think we can all take something from that.
On another note, I had never heard of DKMS until I read your blog, but last Friday I mailed my cheek swabs and information to be on the bone marrow list- so your dream of everyone being a donor is slowly happening, thanks in part to the awareness you raise.
Praying for you every day.
God Bless,
Wyatt
Wishing Milly a belated Happy Birthday.
ReplyDeleteAre your posts just for the blog? Or will you be getting them all together for a published diary or journal?

Hi Alice - Good to hear from you, though I'm sorry to learn that you're back in the hospital. I had hoped you were doing something more fun than that. I want you know that you inspired me to register as a bone marrow donor over here across the pond in the US. I just received and returned my cheek swab kit (thanks for putting the link on your blog). You a very brave lady and you are changing the world. Keep fighting the good fight!
