Sad news

  75. My husband lost his 4 year old little boy in 2010. Sadly, we didn't get the chance to know he'd be leaving us so there was no closure.he was taken by the hands of his stepfather and his biological mother on a summer visit. You are so very blessed to have had the chance to love her thru it. She was a beautiful and articulate young lady. I only wish id had the chance to have known about her before her flight to heaven. I came across her blog from a post on a friends wall. What a blessing it has been for me to read it. Sending this message along the wings of a prayer for your heart to stay comforted. Becky Stacy

  84. I Was going to write a blog entry about this myself, but getting hits for it seemed unethical, so I'll leave my thoughts in a nutshell.

I've never met Alice, like many of her followers I simply followed her blog. Not just for entertainment, not for a wonderful read, not even out of fascination, but more inspiration if you will.

Here we have a young girl, diagnosed with a horrible disease, her life given a sentence and instead of wallowing in self pity she does a simple act, a simple yet thought provoking act of starting up a blog documenting her journey, one in which, I and thousands others were lucky enough to read.

Day by day, I checked Blogger, hoping for a new entry from Alice, any entry of course other than the one carrying news of her death, I think it's safe to say we were all praying for a miracle here.

But, as heartbreaking, devastating and gut wrenching as this news is, we stand united in grief... Something that I'm not sure I've ever seen on Blogger. For all Alice has done, for all the lives shes changed with her thoughts, and charity campaigns. I cannot do anything but say thank you, for letting me be apart of her journey.

  174. Having followed Alice's blog for more than 18 months, I was so sad to read the news this morning. It was typical for her that her last tweet ended with a smiley. Alice was ever so kind and positive. I can not even assume which distress and pains she hid from us readers but she wouldnt stop being optimistic and happy about small things in her life. I am glad that she had one or two better days to celebrate christmas what she seemed to love so much. With her never tiring campaigning for bone marrow donation, she set an avalanche into move. The way she made a lasting impression especially on young people is a seed that will flourish long after this sad day. You are an amazing family. I keep you in my thoughts and Alice forever in my heart.

Your daughter and sister touched and I think changed the lives of so many people. She brought hope, laughter and made cancer real not something hidden away that happened only to other people.

You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

  182. Heartbreaking news - Alice was an inspirational young lady who touched the heart of thousands - her work promoting the bone marrow donors register was particularly important.

Our thoughts are with you Vicky, Simon and Milly (who has also demonstrated remarkable fortitude in her own battles) for all doing so much to support some excellent causes with your charity walks in the UK and Peru.

You are a remarkable family -who deserve our deepest respect. I will think of you particularly next time I visit Cumbria and walk up the Hode.
