I'm 17 and I have terminal cancer. I've created a bucket list because there are so many things I still want to do in my life ... some are possible, some will remain a dream. My blog is to document this precious time with my family and friends, doing the things I want to do.
You only have one life ... live it!

My husband lost his 4 year old little boy in 2010. Sadly, we didn't get the chance to know he'd be leaving us so there was no closure.he was taken by the hands of his stepfather and his biological mother on a summer visit. You are so very blessed to have had the chance to love her thru it. She was a beautiful and articulate young lady. I only wish id had the chance to have known about her before her flight to heaven. I came across her blog from a post on a friends wall. What a blessing it has been for me to read it. Sending this message along the wings of a prayer for your heart to stay comforted. Becky Stacy
I just found this site today and am so sorry to hear about your loss. From what I can see your Alice was and is an amazing girl. She set her mind to do so much and she accomplished a lot of it! I too lost my precious girl, Lydia/16 yrs old, to cancer almost 2 years ago. Please know that you and your family are in my prayers. If you need a sympathetic ear, you can find me on facebook - Linda Hills Matuch
Our condolences go out to you Vicky, Simon, Milly, Mabel and family. We've followed Alice on Facebook, twitter, and enjoyed reading her updates on her blogs and watching her spread a wealth of knowledge and love. She will be greatly missed!
I Was going to write a blog entry about this myself, but getting hits for it seemed unethical, so I'll leave my thoughts in a nutshell.
I've never met Alice, like many of her followers I simply followed her blog. Not just for entertainment, not for a wonderful read, not even out of fascination, but more inspiration if you will.
Here we have a young girl, diagnosed with a horrible disease, her life given a sentence and instead of wallowing in self pity she does a simple act, a simple yet thought provoking act of starting up a blog documenting her journey, one in which, I and thousands others were lucky enough to read.
Day by day, I checked Blogger, hoping for a new entry from Alice, any entry of course other than the one carrying news of her death, I think it's safe to say we were all praying for a miracle here.
But, as heartbreaking, devastating and gut wrenching as this news is, we stand united in grief... Something that I'm not sure I've ever seen on Blogger. For all Alice has done, for all the lives shes changed with her thoughts, and charity campaigns. I cannot do anything but say thank you, for letting me be apart of her journey.
I just recently started reading Alice's blog....what a wonderful soul she was. A very sweet and inspirational soul......I will miss her perspective. I will definitely learn from it and honor her time here on earth by living each day to its fullest. Hugs and prayers to her loving family. May you find peace in knowing that she changed many people's lives around the world.....including me and my family. Her brief time here wasn't in vain and will not be. Prayers and hugs from Colorado, USA
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have joined the Bone Marrow Registry and volunteer for the Be the Match. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. She is an inspiration. Her strength is amazing. Hoping she is peace now.
So sad to hear the news. Love to all - thanks for sharing such an amazing person with the world. She really did make a difference! She'll be remembered always.
So sorry to hear the news. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Alice was such an inspiration to the blogging world, but more importantly to those who were living with a terminal illness and that making a statement is what matters most. RIP Alice, your interpretation of YOLO is exactly what it's supposed to mean.
Rest in Peace dear Alice. Your work here is done. You have touched more lives than you will ever know. Prayers and Love to you all for your amazing Alice.
I, as everyone here must be, am sorry for your loss. I've been following this blog since I first heard about it and I'm glad that she at least got to complete a bunch of REALLY good things including a charity. Here's to hoping that charity lives on for a very long time as I'm sure she wanted.
What a wonderful spirit that was shared with the world for a short time. Her accomplishments will live on. What a blessing for all that she shared herself with us. Sorry for your loss, Vicky, Millie and Simon.
What a huge loss for the world, but even more so for her family who lost their baby girl and sister. Alice taught us all so much in the keeping of this blog, and I'm so glad that I had the chance to follow along. My thoughts and love are with all who knew and loved her. Please know that she'll not be forgotten, and that the work that she started will continue on.
Keeping up with her story and positivity encouraged me and put a smile on my face every time I read one of her posts. I am saddened by this news, but know that this beautiful girl took life by the horns and L-I-V-E-D it. Not many people would have shown the same courage she did if given her situation. Bless Alice and your family.
I am so sorry for your loss. I only knew Alice through this blog. I loved coming to check it, knowing that I would definitely be inspired and uplifted by whatever she had to say. She touched so many people's lives. A beautiful soul.
Alice was an heroic young woman whose good works leave a lasting mark on the world and serve as a guide on how to live to the fullest for every last precious minute. Peace.
RIP Alice! I follow this side for 1 1/2 year and i always wanted to write something, but i don´t, becaus my english is to bad, to write down what i think. But now i will say: she is only gone, when we forget her...and we will not forget her....so she will be always around us! Miss you Alice!
I am so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful family Alice had. RIP Alice, you were such a lovely young lady showing us all how to find joy even when dealing with sorrow, xo
I am so sorry for your loss. I have followed Alice's blog for a long time and was always amazed by her strength, grace and humor. She inspired me to join a bone marrow registry as I know she did so many others. Caring thoughts are being sent your way from Massachusetts, USA.
I am very sorry for your loss and can't imagine the pain you're going through now. I myself never thought I'd be so affected by the death of a 'stranger'. Although I never met Alice, I have been enjoying her blog and positivity for over a year and will miss her kind, witty updates. She had a warmth in her writing that made you feel like you knew her, and as we are only one year in age apart she put my teenage life into perspective. My brother had leukemia so I will always be grateful for the support and awareness she gave to bone marrow donation and I have no doubt that her memory will, like her, just keep on giving! Xxxx

I am so truly sorry for your loss. As a parent I cannot begin to understand how you must be feeling. There are simply no words. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am sure that Alice will be soaring high with the Angels. Life can be so cruel at times but your daughter must have been so very special to be so young. I just don't know what to say. Alice was a truly beautiful, inspiring and lovely girl that has touched so many people by sharing her story with us. She fought so hard, and she worked so hard to get people to be a bonemarrowdonor and starting her own charity. I am sure that she will never be forgotten and that Alice now has the prettiest, whitest angelwings we can only dream of. Dear family, friends and loved ones, my thoughts and prayers are with you and I wish you all the love and strength. Please take good care of eachother. Dear Alice, thank you so much for sharing your story with us and changing our visions about things that happen to us in life. You are the most inspiring and kindest person I've get to known. You fought so hard, now you can rest peacefully. I will allways remember you and shine a light for you each time I go to the church.

Goodnight Alice - i have spent lots of time over the last year reading your posts and catching up with what you were doing. I am glad that it was so peaceful. My thought are with your family , who have done so much with such dignity. Thinking of you all.
So sad to have woken to this news today, I never met Alice but you didn't need to in order to know what great things she was doing with her time in the world.
Amazing how such a strong young woman would reply to my messages with such positive and happy responses.
Thinking of all your family at this very sad time. xxx
Such sad news. She was a wonderful, inspirational young girl who dealt with a horrible disease so bravely. I pray that those close to Alice be brought comfort and strength to cope with her loss x
I'm so sad to here this news. I found her blog very uplifting and inspiring - She is one of the strongest people I've ever heard of. My thoughts are with her family and friends.
She changed lives and made the world a better place. An epitaph everyone would want to have said about them, but to say this for a teenager is both heartbreaking and astounding. What an amazing girl. x
oh no....how very unfair. i am so sorry for your loss. i cannot even start to imagine how devastated you must be. you must miss her so very very much. i always hoped for a miracle... rip alice.
For me, a 37 year old lady who, as a 20 year old, suffered from the same illness reading this news gives me a big lump in my throat. My thoughts are with you and I'll always remember how bravely your daughter and sister fought this cruel disease. The world was lucky to have her.
I don't have the words to express how much I came to love Alice and how deeply she inspired all of us. I am so sorry and I'm sitting here in NYC crying over the loss of an incredible young woman I never met, but came to love and admire so much. She and your family touched so many people and I am so sorry for your loss.
Alice's courage was phenomenal, what a privilege to have shared a little of her journey through her blog. I hope your family find some comfort in Alice's legacy and all the words poured out in response to her leaving!
I know words can never be enough to comfort your family, but I pray that God wraps his arms around all of you right now. I am so glad that her difficult battle is finally over - but so sorry she is no longer here to celebrate that victory with you. Love, prayers and condolences from America - and gratitude for Alice's bravery in sharing her story with the world.
So sorry for your loss. Alice was an inspiration to thousands and hes left behind a lasting legacy in Alice's Escapes. She has escaped the surly bonds of earth to shine as one of the brightest stars in the heavens.
Our thoughts are with you at this time. Alice was such an inspiration, her smile lit up the world. Her extraordinary spirit, will live on with everything she worked towards whilst living with Cancer. Hugssssss xx
Having followed Alice's blog for more than 18 months, I was so sad to read the news this morning. It was typical for her that her last tweet ended with a smiley. Alice was ever so kind and positive. I can not even assume which distress and pains she hid from us readers but she wouldnt stop being optimistic and happy about small things in her life. I am glad that she had one or two better days to celebrate christmas what she seemed to love so much. With her never tiring campaigning for bone marrow donation, she set an avalanche into move. The way she made a lasting impression especially on young people is a seed that will flourish long after this sad day. You are an amazing family. I keep you in my thoughts and Alice forever in my heart.
Am so very very sorry for your loss. I started following Alice's blog and story while our daughter was ill with acute myeloid leukaemia last year. Loved reading Alice's entries even after our daughter died, age 9. I wish you all every comfort and blessing in the world and for Alice to rest in peace.x
Your daughter and sister touched and I think changed the lives of so many people. She brought hope, laughter and made cancer real not something hidden away that happened only to other people.
You all are in my thoughts and prayers. with love Gillie
Rest in Peace Alice. I enjoyed reading your blog, and I am really grateful you shared your story. Your perspective on life was all inspiring and I will miss your updates. Love and thoughts to your family and friends. xxx
I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your beautiful Alice.... following her stories and achievements was such an inspiration and joy, how heartbreaking that the world has lost such a tender, magnificent soul.
Heartbreaking news - Alice was an inspirational young lady who touched the heart of thousands - her work promoting the bone marrow donors register was particularly important.

ReplyDeleteI Was going to write a blog entry about this myself, but getting hits for it seemed unethical, so I'll leave my thoughts in a nutshell.
ReplyDeleteI've never met Alice, like many of her followers I simply followed her blog.
R.I.P

ReplyDeleteOur thoughts are with you at this time. Alice was such an inspiration, her smile lit up the world. Her extraordinary spirit, will live on with everything she worked towards whilst living with Cancer. Hugssssss xx
ReplyDeleteHaving followed Alice's blog for more than 18 months, I was so sad to read the news this morning.
ReplyDeleteAm so very very sorry for your loss. I started following Alice's blog and story while our daughter was ill with acute myeloid leukaemia last year. Loved reading Alice's entries even after our daughter died, age 9. I wish you all every comfort and blessing in the world and for Alice to rest in peace.x
ReplyDeleteRest in peace Alice.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter and sister touched and I think changed the lives of so many people. She brought hope, laughter and made cancer real not something hidden away that happened only to other people.
You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
with love
Gillie
