This is my happy post! Yesterday I had another best day. I had my very own dog show and Mabel did really well and we won loads of rosettes and I didn't stop smiling all day. Loads of doggy people came along and Mabel loved playing with all the other dogs and her best friend from puppy classes came along, she's called Molly and they were so pleased to see each other. The judge was so nice as well and she has had a battle of her own and so I think she knew what it's like. My sister had to show Bess who is our old black labrador and Bess only uses three legs, even though she has four, so we all laughed at poor Milly. Simon and Cathy who own the kennels were so lovely and the sun even came out and we just all had such a nice day. Mabel won the best puppy in show and she was very proud of herself but then she won the best dog in show and I did wonder a bit.
We were raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, Anthony Nolan Trust and for Cancer Bio Dogs who train dogs to sniff for cancerous changes in our wee which is a bit yucky but amazing. The lady who came from Cancer Bio Dogs asked if they can call their next puppy Alice, after me. So Alice will be around for years helping save lives.
I haven't worked out how to load more photos onto here yet, I think I can only have one in a box but I'll have a think and then I'll ask mum lol.
And tomorrow, i think I'll have jaw ache because I'm going in a private plane which feels dead posh and I'm flying up to Scotland and I'm going to go and jump in with some sharks. I've wanted to do this for ages and ages and now that I am, I'm a bit nervous. Well a lot nervous but I hope that I still do it. My dad is going with me so I'll make sure we take lots of photos and when I work out how to do the Mabel ones I'll do a shark one as well.
Emma Bridgewater are going to let me go down to their real place and design a mug of my own which I can't wait to do but I think they'll need lots because my mum will want to buy them all. I'm excited for that and I have a design idea already.
I'm going to go and snuggle up and watch Desperate Housewives now which is my favourite program. Thank you for following me and thank you for your nice messages, have you joined the register yet? lol
Nice one Alice! Glad you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have, Alice (joined the registry)! You are such an amazing young person.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your posts on days when I feel absolutely miserable, and if you can keep a positive outlook with everything going on in your life, I can be less bothered by the trivial junk that goes on in mine.
Keep smiling, kiddo!
S
OH yay!!! You DO get to swim with the sharks. Hurry and figure how to post the pictures!! I know how - and I could try to help you on here, but awfully hard to tell you by email how to accomplish!
ReplyDeleteDon't chicken out with the sharks! You'll be safe in a cage...
How absolutely fascinating. I'm so excited to read about it!
Glad you had a good day Alice!

Hi Alice,
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I'd like to suggest a few things for your bucket list. Have you ever gone camping and watched the sunrise from your sleeping bag? done a charity run/walk?
I see that you wanted to be a dolphin trainer, have you ever swum with them? would Sea World or somewhere that does dolphins shows let you help their trainers out for a couple of hours?
I totally agree with you making the most of life, don't want you to miss out on too much! Claire
Sounds like a fabulous day. Well done you, and well done Champion Mabel :-). Have fun with the sharks, and in your prIvate jet - very A list!! I have done my sample for Anthony Nolan and will be posting it off tomorrow. Thank you for the inspiration to do this. Take care Penny

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a GREAT day! Congratulations on your dog show, what fun:) Yesterday best in show, tomorrow swimming with sharks, mug designing - you are a busy girl!! Being nervous is the good part because it means you're pushing yourself to do something outside your comfort zone and that's what makes us all grow. Hopefully you can figure out a way to post new photos. Looking forward to seeing your adventures! Here's to another FABULOUS day tomorrow:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Mabel! I only just learned of you, Alice, but I think of you daily and love your strength and courage. Blessings to you and your family.

ReplyDeleteDear Alice.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you could have your dog show and will get to swim with sharks. You are a role model to all, and someone that I will think of, every time I'm terribly sad about something relatively trivial. You continue to project bright thoughts to us all and I thank you for that. Do not let those who do not have the mental capacity to understand ruin your day with their rude remarks, hacking, and taking advantage of good people's kindness.
I willfollow your blog all summer
Allie
Greetings,
ReplyDeleteI'm joining those who follow you. Always be strong, and you can overcome each and every stuff that appears on your way. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Having a good time affects our inner chemistry, so keep doing whatever you do to make your smile true. Then live well and live longer.
Farewell
Alice, you sound like one amazing girl, and I'm so excited for you that you are able to do so many things off your bucket list.
ReplyDeleteMy nephew has just had a bone marrow transplant, and he constantly amazes me with his positiveness - you are awe-inspiring people.
Alice, you are a inspiration to us all!! I just registered at DKMS. Excited to get my swab packet in the mail. I've always talked about being an organ donor if something ever happened to me. And have thought about donating bone marrow and the like. But have never actually done it. Will be interesting to see what comes of it when I send my swab kit back. Congrats on getting to tick off things on your bucket list! Swimming with sharks, you are a brave one! I'm too terrified of them, plus spiders, snakes and such. Go for it, you'll do great!
ReplyDeletex Danielle
Enjoy the day, Alice.
ReplyDeleteThe whole Universe, itself, is proclaiming "I love Alice."
And we are saying it too.
You really do know how to have fun.
Love from All of Us.
Yay for happy posts!!!! I loved hearing all about the fun things you're up to!!! Good luck with the Sharks!!

Words cannot express how much you have touched my heart and inspired my own life. You are truly an angel miss Alice. Alice,
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see that you had a day that brought so many smiles to your face!!
Congrats on Mabel getting her ribbons and doing so well in the show. I have for many years, owned and trained Brittany's. My dogs all competed in show and field events and did very well. I know how good that pride feels when they do well!! :-)
I also have a niece who used to work with Labs for The Seeing Eye here in the USA. They are such amazing dogs. So smart and fast learners too! I think Mabel is a beautiful dog!!
If you or your mom can't figure out how to post pictures on here, mention it again and I'll be glad to help you with that.
You take care and have a great trip to go see the sharks. Can't wait to hear about that!!!
Alice,
ReplyDeleteThis may help you with how to post pictures within a post too. This is from the Google/Blogger help page. It's not really very hard and once you do it a few times you'll have no problem.
Hope thishttp://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?answer=41641 helps:
You actually start to post like you usually do but once you're on the page where you type your post, you go to the top,and click on the image icon. That lets you put the picture right on the post. You can then type under the picture also.
You can also center it, or have it on the left or right of the post. Like I said before, I'd be glad to help if you or your mom want me to.
aww dogssss :D they're the very best! :D and you more so!
ReplyDeleteWell done on the dog show! And enjoy the posh jet! You deserve it! Careful with the sharks though - lol.
ReplyDeleteJoining list soon as I can talk to my doctor. Thanks to you.
Yey Mabel won! Good luck diving with the sharks :)
ReplyDeleteOh my - now I knew you were brave, but sharks!!!!! are you mad too lol
ReplyDeleteI hope it's everything you dream of, how exciting - although I have to say if it were me I'd probably opt for jumping in with goldfish ;)
So pleased that you, Milly, Mabel and Bess did so well at the show - WTG ladies YAY!!!! I hope your dad had a wondeful fathers day too watching his girls do so well :D
I hope you raised lots of money for your chosen charities, and how special is it that such a special puppy will be named after you - AMAZING!
Keep doing what you're doing and smile all the way - no-one deserves it more.
Big hugs to you and all your family. xx

ReplyDeleteI am so pleased the dog show went well, it looked amazing!! I am over the moon you are flying up to swim with sharks today!!! Go Alice!!!
I gave the clinic yesterday my best shot, I will organise another clinic in the near future but will have more time to publicise it and plan better.
I have a slot on local radio coming up where I am going to try to encourage people to join up on the register, it would be good if they did the whole show about BM donation :-)
Have a great day today ;-)

So glad to see a happy post from you Alice. There are some terrible people in this world and you must not let them distract you.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be such a wonderful girl. I have followed you with great interest and emotion. I am currently waiting for my saliva kit from Anthony Nolan (I've been approved for the register, yay!). I probably wouldn't have considered joining if it hadn't been for your campaigning. Just think how many lives you are saving, you really are someone special.
Love to you and all your family (especially Milly who did brilliant in the race for life and who must be a brilliant sister) and of course to Mabel.
Anna
Well done to you and Mabel, we have a lab puppy and I can only imagine the fun you had trying to keep Mabel under control, Our Tilly would have run riot with all the other dogs to play with!!!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know that I am one of the millions of people you have inspired to go get registered, I hate hospitals, doctors, dentists and all the other medical type's I avoid them like the plague normally, without you and your inspiring strength and composure in the face of adversity it would have been about the last thing in the world I would have done...
So yet again, you have triumphed in making yet another selfish 30 somthing male from the UK wake up and smell the coffee and realise that I CAN DO something to make a difference, at no cost (apart from a little pain maybe) but as my mother would suggest, I've always been a little pain...
Keep having the good days and rest assured you have been the catalyst for a million more good days for others.... Love to you and the family.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
hey there, I'm not sure I'd be swimming with sharks but so many things you've already done are probably much harder so sure you'll be fine. I just wanted to say well done for pushing on with the bone marrow register message - it puts all this stuff in perspective. I feel bad for hesitating but hope to go onto the register soon. Hesitation is only cos I'm chicken. Have fun in all your adventures. x
ReplyDeleteHello Alice,
ReplyDeleteI was very happy to find your blog!! I come from Athens, Greece. Do you Know Greece???
Anyway, I wish you the best. Continue to be optimistic, strong and happy.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteYou don't know me, but I just wanted to let you know that your story has reached us here across the pond in the States. I also wanted to let you know that on Friday, I sent in my swab kit to be registered as a marrow donor. I did this because you asked me to, and that's the least I can do for a girl like you. Keep fighting, Alice, you're beautiful.
Kevin
Hey, Alice,
ReplyDeleteJust joined your blog - it's looking really good. Please excuse the name 'EvilDM', but it's just a nickname given to me from my gaming days by pals.
So good to hear you're getting to realise your dreams, and that there are so many wonderful people out there helping you to achieve them. Keep up the wonderful work, my thoughts are with you.
PS: been on the Bone Marrow register since 2006 ;o)
Obrigada.
Beijos.
Carla Herbelly.
hello alice , your blog is truely inspiring, you are a very brave girl and i admire you greatly . i am sending your blog around now hoping i can find some one to help you cross off a few of your dreams <3 good luck. keep us updated :) xxx
ReplyDeleteGreetings again from Laura in Michigan. Today I have signed up on the "Be the match" website and am waiting for my kit to arrive in the mail. You moved me to do it, I am trying to enlist others on facebook. I hope you are feeling well today and are checking things off your list!
ReplyDeleteHey Alice! My name is Julia. I am 13 and I live in America. I just wanted you to know that you are an amazing person and that your efforts are reaching at least America, so you should be very proud. Personally, I think that this was a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteI hope that no more jerks try to ruin your wonderful idea.
Keep up the awesomeness!!! You're my role model!!
Hello Alice. I found your blog and where very moved by what you write. I had a sister who died in 2003 from cancer. Miss her very much. You remind me very much about her, you both were / are so forward and caring. You thought of others more than yourselves. Read about the bad things that happened, it is terrible that there are such people, but I never stopped amazed. Steaming them stupid komentarer, fuck what people say they are just jealous that you reached out to the world, and accomplish something in spite of your illness and your age. You are incredibly strong in spite of your illness, I know that they are times we outsiders do not see but since I have been with and seen, I know. But you deserve all the best and I really hope you can fulfill all the things on the list.
ReplyDeleteI wrote in my blog a bit about yourself that you are in any way touched me even though I do not know you. I cry with you, suffer with you, is happy with you. I would be happy if I could get a picture of you, maybe a letter and atugraf?
As memory, I think about you every day and hope you will enjoy every moment you have left.
Many kisses and hugs Linda Persson from Sweden.
My blog address where you want to check out. You can get my mail address with. which is linda.person @ live.se you can adda me

I have a blog u n ur mom may be interested in.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got to this, and I hope you get to many
ReplyDeleteMore of the things you want to! You are a wonderful girl and are a big inspiration! I am going to look into donating! Good luck in all do you are an amazing person x
Hello, Alice! I came across your blog just a few days ago and I am writing to let you know that I have just registered with the bonemarrow donation registry. You are truly inspiring! My Aunt just found out that she has leukemia around the time I found your blog and decided to register myself as a donor. Ironic how things work out like that.
ReplyDeleteI pray you are blessed beyond measurable means and filled with love and joy every day.
I swam with sharks a few times, mostly in the Caribbean and Brasil's coastline.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing to keep in mind is that they are very smart fish. This means that they do not see you as prey, as most of the time, humans are almost as big as the sharks and when underwater we actually make a lot of noise, and smell pretty weird for them.
So, don't worry, they won't look at you and see a ham sandwich :p
Just don't pull their tails... did that once and was a pretty stupid move... thanks the shark was about 40cm.
SOOo, have a nice evening and enjoy your dive!
Parabens pelo pela Mabel. Nade com os tubarões e depois venha nos contar.
ReplyDeleteUm beijo Grande da Eliane.
Congrats on making blog of note! Desperate Housewives is my favorite show too :)
ReplyDeleteWell done on the dog show - saw it on the ITN news this evening. Lucy shouted at me to come quick because Post Pals Alice was on the ITV.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy swimming with sharks. Private plane wit wooooo!
Oh and yes, joined the register a few years back . xxx
Alice you are such a brave young girl and such an inspiration to so many people! I am having a bone marrow transplant in July this year and am so thank full for everybodys support and appeal for new bone marrow donors. Including yourself, your story has made me feel very lucky they can do so much for me although im also very upset and devastated for you, I just wonder why the world can be such a cruel and unfair place! Anyway I have read alot of your blogs and just started my own :) I even have the same background as you its so cool :P Keep strong!!! Im glad you had a great day at the dog show you deserve everything good thing you get and more!! Dont let any low lives get you down, im sure the good people in the world outweigh the sick minded pathetic ones! They are no bodys!
ReplyDeleteIf you ever want to talk im always here, i know you already have millionnnnns of people anyway but if you ever do want a chat id love to.
Lots of love to you and your family! Thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. Emma xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi little Alice!
ReplyDeleteI'm from Brazil and now i have a huge smile on my face after reading that Mabel was on a Dog Show! You must be very proud of her!!!
I'm really happy that you are going to swim next to sharks, one of your wildest dreams! Be careful, ok? And forgive my terrible english, i just had to write something to you.
I wish you all the best always!!!
Praying for you and your adorable family and dogs as well.
Love,
Mariana
Congratulations on yours and Mabel's work at the dog show. Can't wait to see pics of you swimming with sharks! How very exciting - and arriving in a private plane no less. Watch out for paparazzi when you debark. LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Alice
ReplyDeleteHave just seen you on the news.... in New Zealand! Hope that your bucket list is going superb and definitely think your doing a lot more than many do in an entire lifetime. Even got me thinking about donating bone marrow. :)
Goodluck
I wanted you to know because of you I join the Be The Match the bone marrow donor registry in the US. You amaze me. Keep that smile, look forward to you post on swimming with sharks!
ReplyDeleteWow sounds like you had an amazing day! :D I wish my dog was as patient as yours, she's too worried about food to be in a dog show! haha Anyway, just thought it would be cool if there were a way for you to take your list and mark off the ones you have accomplished! :) I'm trying to keep up with you but you seem to be doing so many of the items on your list, I'm loosing track! Way to be an inspiration Alice!
ReplyDelete"The lady who came from Cancer Bio Dogs asked if they can call their next puppy Alice, after me. So Alice will be around for years helping save lives."
ReplyDeleteThis is so amazing! ♥ I am really happy for you and I hope you are going to enjoy swimming with sharks. Sounds like REALLY exiting!
Love,
Mirka
Hi Alice, not sure if you are interested but the HOG's (Harley Owners Group) represent every Harley-Davidson owner in the World.
ReplyDeleteThey support many charities e.g. Help for Heroes ride-out to Wootten Bassett. Do you fancy 5000 bikers turning up to your house one day?
I'd like to charge them £5 for the privilege. See what your folks think, could be fun.
Alice,
ReplyDeleteI live in Washington, DC, and came upon your blog last night when I just couldn't fall asleep. My boyfriend was snoring in my ears and I was going crazy. When I read your story, I realized that his snoring is nothing compared to what you are going through.
You are definitely an inspiration to me and I wanted to share an inspiring story with you: It starts off sad, but ends wonderfully.
A good friend of mine, Mindy, married a man, Derrick, who was suffering from leukemia. He passed away not long after their wedding. For a long time Mindy had trouble grasping what had happened, but once she was ready she took Derrick's memory and turned it into something spectacular.
She created the Fight On Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps families deal with the many hardships and expenses that come along with fighting cancer. So far, they have donated more than $36,000 to families, held numerous bone marrow donor drives, and have worked with hospitals to provide 'Chemo Ducks' for pediatric cancer patients. If you would like to take a look at her organization, the web address is www.djdfighton.org.
While Mindy isn't suffering the direct effects of living with cancer, I find that you and she have much in common. You both are able to take something that by no means is enjoyable, and turn it into an inspiration for others.
Thank you for your resilience and your hope. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Hi Alice Myself and my Hubby have both just done the spit test and its off in the post(nice eh!!!). Enjoy your next adventure, and keep us updated
ReplyDeleteAlice bom dia!!
I would love to join the registry, but can't because I have an autoimmune disease. My husband and mother are on it though. It is so inspirational that you have taken this hand that you've been dealt and are making it as positive as you possibly can.
ReplyDeleteMy dad joined the registry and is swabbed and everything! He's been approved and is now an official bone marrow donor :) I think I'm a bit too young to be a donor though; I haven't checked...
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had yet another amazing day. I just love dogs soooooooo much! I love watching dog shows, and I'm so impressed that you won best dog! I think that your dog totally deserved it. Mabel is such an adorable name for a pet :)
If you want to post photos easily you can create a Photobucket account at www.photobucket.com and upload as many photos as you want to an individual album. Then all you have to do is post the link to each album (for example, "Mabel's Dog Show") and then we can all enjoy viewing them.
Hi Alice,
ReplyDeleteThe dog show sounds like it was a lot of fun! Congrats to Mabel for being a winner and helping to raise money for a great cause.
Your trip to Scotland to swim with sharks sounds AMAZING. I hope you have a wonderful time while you're there. Take lots of pictures!
Good luck with everything.
Viel spass..enjoy
ReplyDeleteAlice, it so good to hear about all the amazing experiences you are having and don't worry about the pics - we can imagine! Delighted you met the boys - so special and I particularly think of your Mum too (it's a mum and daughter thing). I would love to get an Emma Bridgewater mug that you design! will watch this space. Amy's Mum xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's great to hear you had a best day! Here's hoping you have many, many more! Swimming with sharks sounds cool, though I might be a little freaked out if I tried that. I haven't registered to be a bone-marrow donor yet. I still have to talk about it some more with my parents. I'd really like to do so, though.
ReplyDeleteHope you have fun on the private jet and hanging out with the sharks!
