Bits and Kili trekking

There's lots of changes this week.
I was back at hospital at the beginning of the week and the chemo I've been trying isn't doing any good and the tumours are all growing, so we've all agreed it's best to stop that and we're going to give radiotherapy another go. So next week I go back to hospital and get to see Freda again (my consultant from Clatterbridge) and look at planning that again. It will be a bit weird to go there 3 times!
Of course, that means that my mum and dad couldn't both go on the Kili trip which I felt so sad about and they were really sad too. They have been planning it for about a year and so it was a bit of an upset for all of us. My nan and grandad would of taken me but my mum and dad were worried that things often change at hospital and so they couldn't risk putting that stress on someone else.
So my mum has gone and right now she's somewhere on Kili and I hope she's having a good time. She has managed to send a couple of texts so I know she's okay but I think that mobile phone coverage probably isn't the best out there LOL.
Anyway, wanted to update you all and let you know that I'm trying a different treatment. I don't mind radiation that much - it just makes you tired and my throat was really sore last year but other than that, it wasn't too bad. Plus I got to meet some lovely people.
Okay, please follow my twitter account @alice_pyne and @alicesescapes if you want updates on all of our Kili trekkers. I can't wait to hear all about it and then I'm hoping that I'll be off caravan shopping :)

Your mum and dad know they made the right decision and I'm sure they wouldn't have it any other way. I'm sorry about the news of your tumors growing but perhaps the third time is the charm and this radiotherapy will help. Good luck to your mum and I hope she's having a blast! I think of you often Alice and I'm sending you all my positive thoughts (and prayers) all the way "across the pond" from NB, Canada. Love, ME

  22. Alice,

I hope the radiation therapy (as we call it in the states) isn't too exhausting for you, since you are already tired. I also hope there are no other side effects and radiation therapy does its job in shrinking your lumps.

I hope your mom has the time of her life and creates enough memories for the both of you!

You're blog always brings light to my day.

    Much love from Denver, Colorado!

  23. Sending you Dear Alice my love, my prayers. For me cold yogurt after radiation was over helped my throat. Also baking soda gargles. It's never bad during. Only afterwards. Feel radiologist should take a treatment or 30. lol
